Clyde May passed from this earth on January 7 at 11:50 pm at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. He was the son of Charles and Carrie (Tebbe) May, born May 31, 1929 in Anderson, IN, the youngest of five children. Clyde graduated from North Vernon High School in 1947.

While a junior in high school, he joined the Naval Reserves. In 1949, he married JoAnn Verbarg, his high school sweetheart. Clyde and JoAnn had five children.

Their first, Patricia Ann, died in 1959 whereupon the family moved to Odessa, Texas. A son, Robert Joseph died in 1973. In 1975, they moved back to Indiana.

After retiring from the insurance business, JoAnn and Clyde built a home on 120 acres that became a tree farm, fulfilling a dream of theirs. Clyde loved his German Shepard dogs and maintaining his forest with his family. After 47 years of marriage, JoAnn passed away.

He married Dorothy Ash in 1997 and they enjoyed 21 years of love, family, pies, and fudge. She survives and lives in Columbus. Clyde retired from Western Southern Life Insurance Company after 30 years of service.

A member of First Methodist Church in North Vernon, he taught Sunday School and bible study. He also started the famous Saturday breakfast there that continues today. Clyde is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his sister, Geraldine Yates, three of his children, Sue Ellen Richardson, Thomas Lester May, and David Francis May, and his ten grandchildren, Matthew Joseph, quadruplets Christina Marie, Katherine Ann, Leah Elaine, and Patricia Lynn, twins Benjamin Thomas and Philip Daniel, Alaina JoAnn, Katrina Ann, and Cassidy Marie.

Funeral services will be held at Sawyer Pickett Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana on Friday, January 11. Visitation will start at 11 am and a service will be held at 1 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or to First Methodist Church of North Vernon.
