Darlene’s Obituary Sloansville (Schoharie County): Darlene J. Sulem, 71, of State Route 30A, Sloansville, passed away Wednesday March 13th at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY after a long illness. Darlene was born October 27, 1947 in Cobleskill, a daughter of Raymond and Edna Adair and attended the former Cobleskill High School. She later earned her GED, something she was very proud of.

She married her first husband, John H. Baker on May 17, 1964, and together they had two sons. She remarried Theodore “Ted” Sulem on July 7 of 1985. Together they owned and operated the former Headstone Inn Tavern and they spent their lives together until his passing on September 1, 1998.

She was devoted to her family, and took care of her father, Raymond, and her husbands John and Ted in their final days. Her favorite past-time was spending time with her grandchildren. When she wasn’t caring for her loved-ones, she enjoyed camping, fishing, and Nascar.

She was a former member of the East Worcester Fish and Game club, and the Carlisle Moose Lodge. Survivors include her sons, Brian (Helena) Baker of Howes Cave, NY, and Kenneth (Karen Hotaling) Baker of Sloansville, NY; her grandchildren Brittney, Delena, Zaiden, Trezden, Bobbie Lee, Brandon, Nicole, and Ken Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Summer; 2 siblings, Richard Adair of Sloansville, NY and Joan (Roy) Strouse of Cobleskill, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, both husbands, and a brother, Roger Adair.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Central Bridge Fire Department, 137 South Main St., Central Bridge, NY on Saturday, March 30th 1pm-4pm. In lieu of flowers, Darlene’s family requests that donations be made to Marathon for a Better Life, PO Box 268, Warnerville, NY 12187, or the Central Bridge Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad, PO Box 294, Central Bridge, NY 12035.
