Obituary for Darlene Hancock Darlene Hancock, 79, of Johnston City, passed away at 10:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in Heartland Regional Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Darlene was born August 27, 1938 in West Frankfort to Norman and Jessie (McCuan) Cowles. She married Harry “Buzz” Hancock in 1955 at Hernando, Mississippi.
Harry survives. Darlene was retired, having been employed by Dr. Jacob & Dr. Rebecca Schlee, General Denistry in Johnston City for many years. Darlene was of the Christian faith.
She enjoyed reading, camping and playing card games. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Harry Hancock of Johnston City; four children, Doug (Marla) Hancock, Tim Hancock, Cindy (Randy) Harper and Scott Hancock all of Johnston City; four grandchildren, Justin (Dawn) Hancock, Nolan (Sabrina) Hancock, Jeremy Ridings and Jessi Hancock; nine great-grandchildren; Karah, Landrie and Eden Hancock, Logan, Jillian and Katelyn Ridings, Braden McGee, Cohen and River Reeder.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Val Jean Cowles. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Rev.
Keith Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
