Darrell Russell “Rusty” Mick, 65, of Parkersburg passed away December 16, 2018 at the Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 15, 1953 in Clarksburg, the son of the late Delmer and Lilas Jewel (Shipplett) Mick. Rusty was a devoted family man.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, being helpful and generous, he never met a stranger and was always whistling or singing. He worked thirty-nine years as a conductor for CSX Railroad and was an active member of the UTU Local 1386. Rusty was born and raised in the Church of Christ and was a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ.

He played bridge in Clarksburg nearly every week. He was an avid sports fan for the Pirates, Steelers and the beloved Mountaineers. Rusty is survived by his wife of forty-four years Betty Mae (Hartleben) Mick, sons Brian Mick (Shawna) of St. Albans, Curtis Mick (Wendy) of Belpre, four grandchildren Andrew, Aaron, Camryn, and Marlee, brothers Dennis Mick (Debbie), Kenneth Mick (Kathryn), Stuart Mick (Sandy), sister Crystal McDaniel (Richard), nieces and nephews on the Mick side of the family, Cyndi Pyles (Craig), Sheri Courtney (Darrin), Lincoln Mick (Shelby), Ryan Mick, Shelia Mick, Matthew McDaniel and Cassidy McDaniel, sisters in law Dee Taylor (Jeff), Peggy Means (Cliff), Paula Pacheco (John), nieces and nephews on the Hartleben side of the family Jeff Taylor (Joy), Mary Beth Mattes (Brandon), Jamie Jarrell, Cassie Means (fiance Ray Moore), Robbie Pacheco, Shane Pacheco (Laura) and a total of eighteen great nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

In addition to parents, Rusty was preceded in death by his son Jason Michael Mick. Visitation will be 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 on Wednesday and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Kenneth A. Mick officiating.
