Shirley “Kate” White, 74, of Williamstown, WV passed from this life to be with her Heavenly Father Saturday, December 1, 2018 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 13, 1944 in Parkersburg, WV, daughter of the late Fielding and Ella (Varner) Metz. She dedicated her life to being a wife, mother, grandmother and, homemaker.

“Katie” was a women of many talents and interests, including prize-winning quilts, being a member of the Red Hat Society, cooking wonderful meals for friends and family and being Elvis’ #1 fan. Her greatest talent was her unconditional love for her family. She was a life-long member of the Baptist Temple in Parkersburg.

Her faith sustained her through her long illness. Her generous spirit and love for life will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of forty-six years Curtis White; sons Jason White (Courtney) and Justin White (Jennifer) all of Williamstown; four grandchildren Jackson, Judson, Logan, and Madison all of Williamstown; and sister Sharon Williams of Parkersburg.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters Jessie, Mary, Marie, Dot, and Judy; and brothers Frank, Jack, Gene, and Roger. She was blessed with many special friends who helped care for her during her illness. Her family will always be grateful.

Services will be Wednesday 11:00 AM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastors Scott Whyte and Larry Dale officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery North. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
