Mary Jane Kelly Mary Jane Kelly, 80, of Vienna, beloved wife of Deacon James R. Kelly, ended her earthly life and began eternal life on November 29, 2018. Born December 31, 1937, to the late Arthur and Catherine McGervey of Crafton, PA. Mary Jane graduated from the former St. Luke’s High School, Carnegie, PA, and earned degrees from Duquesne University and Wheeling Jesuit University.

She taught in elementary schools in Pittsburgh and Parkersburg, but her most fulfilling work was as a certified Catholic hospital chaplain at the former St. Joseph Hospital. Happily married for 58 years and residents of Wood County for the past 56 years, Mary Jane and Jim raised five children, Deacon James W. (Leah) of Pickerington, OH, David of Belpre, Mary Catherine (Mark) Sheppard of Charlotte, NC, Gerard (Sherri) of Vienna, and Arthur of Mineral Wells. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers Arthur and Edward McGervey, sister-in-law June McGervey, and beloved aunts Mary and Jane Blaney.

Survived by her husband and children, twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law Thomas (Mary Ann) and William Kelly, many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will remember Mary Jane for her boundless faith, dedicated ministry, strong will, love of children, and infectious laugh. Having ministered to many during their health care challenges, Mary Jane persevered through illness in her last years, and now awaits the glory of the risen Lord Jesus.

The family would like to thank Mary Jane’s caregivers at Elmcroft of Marietta and the hospice staff of Amedisys. Visitation will be Thursday December 6th from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Leavitt Funeral Services, 403 7th Street, Parkersburg, concluding with a prayer service at 7:45pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday December 7th at 10:30am at St. Michael Catholic Church, 55th St. and Grand Central Ave.
