Debra K. Smith, 65, of Donahue, Iowa passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31 at Park View Lutheran Church in Eldridge, Iowa. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge, Iowa.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in DeWitt, Iowa. Debbie was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa on September 2, 1953, the daughter of Marvin and Frances (Gravert) Hinkle. She was a graduate of North Scott High School and later with an Associates Degree in computer sciences from Scott Community College.

On December 17, 1983, she married John R. Smith at Park View Lutheran Church. Debbie worked as a land surveyor and was a member of the Iowa Land Surveyors. Among her other memberships were Park View Lutheran Church and the American Legion in Eldridge.

Debbie enjoyed gardening, reading, country and western music, and landscaping. She also had a love for horses and traveling, both in the United States and in Europe. Above all, Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, John Smith of Donahue; sons, Daniel (Karla) Marti of Bellevue, Nebraska, Robert (Breanna) Marti of New Bern, North Carolina; sister, Pat (Ted) Claeys of DeWitt, brother, Doug (Karma) Hinkle of DeWitt; nephews, Matthew Claeys of Morrison, Illinois, Mark Claeys of Eldridge, Zach Hinkle of DeWitt; and 6 grandchildren, Derik Marti, Kyle Marti, Drake Marti, Jada Marti, Lilith Lupold, Gabriel Marti. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Jo Hinkle. Memorials may be directed the Park View Lutheran Church or to the family.
