Dennis O’Donnell 76, of Forks Twp. , PA, passed away after a long illness, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 with his family by his side, in Holy Family Manor. Dennis was born in Portland, ME, a son of the late Edward and Ruth (Abbott) O’Donnell.

Dennis was a devoted husband to his wife Elizabeth “Toni” O’Donnell, with whom he celebrated 51 years of marriage. He graduated from Portland High School, Portland, ME and attended Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, ME. Dennis sailed the Oceans on oil tankers for 42 years; 20 years as Chief Engineer.

He took great pride that he sailed Chief Engineer on all engines: steam, diesel, and LNG. During his time home from the sea he enjoyed family life, carpentry, reading, gardening, attending any sports games, rooting for the Red Sox and spending summer time on Long Island Maine, where he built the family cottage. Dennis often said his best accomplishments were his two children, and two grandchildren, whom he adored.

Also, he frequently shared with his children, his best decision was marrying mom. Dennis was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. In addition to his wife, Dennis is survived by a son Ian O’Donnell and wife Cindy; a daughter Robina Laughlin and husband Craig; two wonderful grandchildren Aiden, and Erin O’Donnell.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday 5:00 pm in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp. ), followed by a calling hour from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment and celebration of life will be held on Long Island, ME, sometime in July.
