Dennis “Dodger Denny” Olson was unexpectedly called to the greatest stadium of them all Monday, July 16, 2018. Dennis B. Olson was born June 19, 1953 to Elmer and Frances Olson in Fort Dodge, Iowa. A visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge.

Services will be Thursday 10:00 a.m. also at First United Methodist Church with Andrea Kraushaar officiating. Dennis grew up on the westside of town and would remain a westsider until his final days. Dennis held jobs of all kinds throughout his years.

Working for the Fort Dodge Community School District for over 20 years would be his biggest joy. Dennis ended his career at Fort Dodge Senior High. The senior high was the perfect fit for Dennis as he was surrounded by his favorite athletes every day.

Dennis could tell you every play of every game regardless of the sport whether it was a normal season game or state playoff game, he could share all the details. For many years and many people Dennis has been the heart and soul of Dodger Athletics. Dennis was joined in marriage to Kathy Miller in Algona, Iowa September 4, 1982.

Dennis leaves behind sons Bryan (Melissa) Olson of Cedar Falls, Adam (Kirsten) Olson, and daughter Laura (Richard) Sanchez. He also leaves behind grandchildren Avery, Scarlett, Maeleah, Ryker, Emelia, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was a passionate Iowa State fan, avid bird watcher, and above all us a proud Dad, Papa, and Uncle.

The family encourages everyone who attends to wear their favorite Dodger, Gael, Iowa State or sports team apparel. In lieu of flowers they also ask to bring sports drinks, water, or pop to donate in his honor to the upcoming FDSH sports season. Historic Bruce Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
