Obituary for Ruth Carlson Ruth Carlson, 86, of Fort Dodge passed away on July 13, 2018 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Memorial service honoring Ruth’s life will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday July 17, 2018 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place at Carpenter Cemetery in Fort Dodge.

Visitation will take place one our prior to the service. Ruth Irene Carlson was born on November 3, 1931 to Merle and Ruby (Mills) Erickson in Fort Dodge. She attended Fort Dodge Schools and graduated in 1949.

Ruth was united in marriage to Vinsen Hansen on March 31, 1950 until his death. In December of 1965, Ruth was united in marriage to Donald Carlson in Blue Earth, Minnesota. Ruth was employed at Brooks Laundry until she retired in 1985.

Ruth enjoyed playing cards with the residents of Deercreek, fishing, knitting and needle work crafts, and canning vegetables out of the garden. Ruth will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew her. Survivors include children: Arthur (Susan) Hansen of Livermore, CA, Raymond (Julie) Hansen of Fort Dodge, IA and Karen (Brian) Norine of Rockwell City, IA: Step-children Robin (William) Jones of Cedar Rapids, IA, Penny (Steven) Stringer of Palo, IA and Scott Carlson of Cedar Rapids, IA; 9 grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; Sister Edna Mae Quillen of Fort Dodge.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Vinsen Hansen and Donald Carlson, half-brothers James Erickson and Kenneth Kreimer, as well as brother-in-law Dave Quillen.
