Obituary for Melvin Dale Zehr Melvin D. Zehr, 92, went to be with the Lord in his sleep on Friday, June 22, 2018, at his home in Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge, Iowa Melvin Dale Zehr was born on January 13, 1926, with his twin brother Marvin, to John H. and Marie (Wendt) Zehr in Manson, Iowa. While in CPS, he met Lois Keiser in Denver, CO. They were married on December 7, 1948.

Melvin and Lois lived and farmed at Manson, where they raised four children. He worked in the maintenance department at Trinity Regional Hospital (64-91) while farming. They moved to Fort Dodge in 1972.

After retirement, he volunteered at the hospital for 20 years. He is survived by his children, Gloria (Paul) Nelson of Fort Dodge; Daniel (Jeanie) Zehr of Manson; Rick (Linda) Zehr of Fort Dodge; Jan (Paul) Butterfield of Badger, IA; ten grandchildren: and twenty great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Lois, his twin brother Marvin, his sister Mildred, his parents, John and Marie Zehr, his grandson Justin Michael Zehr and his great granddaughter Audra Eileen Zehr.

Visitation will be at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1615 N. 15th St., in Fort Dodge, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29. Interment services for the family will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Manson, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. at the Northfield Church, 2933 N. 15th St., in Fort Dodge. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
