Obituary for Esther Lou Hill Esther Hill, 91, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center. Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge with Pastor Alaire Bornholtz-Willits officiating. Private burial services will be in the Union Cemetery in Humboldt.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge. Esther Lou Whipple, the daughter of Myron and Martha (Millward) Whipple, was born July 2, 1927 in Humboldt County, Iowa and in 1944, Esther graduated from the Rutland High School. On August 7, 1947, Esther was united in marriage to Duane Hill in Humboldt.

After their marriage the couple made their home in Humboldt until 1952 when they moved to Fort Dodge. Esther graduated in 1970 from ICCC as a LPN. She worked at Mercy and Trinity Hospitals in Fort Dodge until her retired in 1989 after 30 year.

Esther loved camping with her family and after retirement loved traveling with her husband. Duane passed away on November 22, 2006. Esther was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge.

Esther is survived by her five children, Larry (Barbara) Hill of Omaha, Dennis (Charlene) Hill of Lehigh, Dale (Kathy) Hill of Humboldt, Linda (Bill) Weber of Atoka, OK, and Dean (Jeanne) Hill of Fort Dodge; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Andy Booheister of Kansas Sister-in-law Marjorie Whipple of Humboldt. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a daughter-in-law Donna Hill, her three sisters Ruth Whipple, Carol Cain, and Alice Moss and her two brothers Ralph and Warren Whipple.
