Obituary for Dennis Richard Tallon COLUMBUS–Dennis Tallon, 75, of Columbus, died Sunday, August 12, 2018, at his home. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Fullerton Cemetery in Fullerton with Pastor Vern Olson officiating. Military honors will be provided by Fullerton American Legion Post 151.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at Palmer-Santin Funeral Home in Fullerton prior to the service. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family. Dennis was born May 16, 1943 to Pat and Nell (Vaughn) Tallon at Palmer, NE.

He attended District 55 country school. In March 1949, they moved to Fullerton. On April 1, 1956, they moved back to the farm and he attended country school until the 8th grade.

He graduated from Fullerton High School. On January 7, 1964, he joined the U.S. Navy and attended Hosp Corps School for 16 weeks. He went to Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital Field Medical School for five weeks.

He was part of the 2nd Battalion Marines 1st Marine Division. He served in Vietnam for 13 months until September 1966 before returning to the states. He was honorably discharged January 1968.

He farmed with his dad for one year. On August 1968, he married Diana Elznic. He started working at Schuyler Pack in March 1969 and retired March 2007.

In 1985, he married Dorothy Herring and they made their home in Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his kids. After retirement, he got to be a snowbird for five years and enjoyed the warm winters in Arizona and made many new friends while there.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Columbus; sons, Bill (Deb) Tallon of Fayetteville, NC and Terry Tallon of Parachute, CO; step-children, Cory (Deanna) Robison of Mesa, AZ, Angela (Vern) Silence of Corning, IA, Marcy Hulett of Kennard, NE, and Tracy (Brenda) Robison of Prescott, IA; and 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
