Diana Kay (Benker) Trapp, 71, of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood in Lebanon. She was born in Lafayette on October 7, 1947, a daughter of Gladys (Slayton) Benker Hodge and the late Howard Benker. She graduated from Delphi High School in 1965 where she was homecoming queen her senior year.

After high school, she attended beauty school in Lafayette. In April 1966, she married Jerry Trapp, they divorced in 1984. Diana owned and operated her own beauty shop in her home for ten years.

She had worked for Clairol in New York and sold beauty supply products throughout the Midwest. Diana was also a Vidal Sassoon model from 1976-1984 and served as his personal model for several years. After modeling, she opened a beauty shop in Greenwood, working for twenty years before retiring due to health.

Diana then moved to Lafayette to be closer to her mother. In her spare time, she enjoyed writing children’s books. Diana was a dedicated mother and loved her two sons very much.

Survivors include a son, Darrin Trapp of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Joshua Trapp and wife of Danville and Mandy Trapp of Huntington; two great granddaughters; mother, Gladys Hodge of Lafayette; brother, John (Becky) Benker of San Antonio, TX; sister, Becky (Ron) Grimsley of Lafayette; nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jerry Trapp of Lebanon. In addition to her father, Diana was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Trapp. Funeral Services are planned for Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, with Rev.

Gene Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.
