Donald’s Obituary Donald C. Streitz, 87, passed away in his home on Sunday, February 3, after a lengthy battle with failing health. Donald Charles Streitz was born to Hubert and Rose (Reihle) Streitz on June 13, 1931 in rural Renville County. He attended elementary school in rural Renville County and attended high school at St. Leo’s Catholic School in Minot, graduating in May of 1948.

Donald married Gwen Anderson on February 2, 1952. They lived on a farm near Foxholm, ND, where they raised their five children. Donald was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Foxholm, its Knights of Columbus group, its Holy Name Society and participated in the life of the church for many years.

He also served his community as a member of various organizations including Citizens United to Save the Valley and the Carpio School Board. Donald was a farmer all his life. His focus in life was Faith, Family and Friends.

He was an avid sports fan, spending countless hours cheering on his children, grandchildren and all area youth at sports activities. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. He had many wonderful friendships throughout his lifetime.

Gwen passed away in August of 1994. Donald was joined in marriage to June Gaydos on October 9, 1999. Donald and June lived in Minot and continued to enjoy time spent with family and friends.

They were members of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot. Donald is survived by: His wife, June; 5 children, Steven (Paulette) Streitz, Minot, Barbara (Cory) Jones, Fargo, Michael (Jeanne) Streitz, Covington, KY, James (Martina) Streitz, Anaheim, CA and Joel Streitz, Bismarck; 4 stepsons, Mike (Marty) Gaydos, Lino Lake, MN, David (Michelle) Gaydos, Inver Grove Heights, MN, Mark (Karen) Gaydos, Bismarck and Robert (Tiffany) Gaydos, Minot; 8 grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren who brought much joy to his life, Sarah Streitz, Bloomington, MN, Kevin Streitz (Sarah), Minot, Brian (Becky) Streitz, Roseville, MN, Lisa (Pete) Schlater, Dayton, OH, Jason (Robyn) Jones, Otsego, MN, Jill (Ronnie) Schneider, Fargo, Sister Mary Ruth Jones, Lincoln, NE, Ericka Rios Streitz, Anaheim, CA, Katie Mickelson, White Bear Lake, MN, Kevin Gaydos, Minneapolis, MN, Hannah Gaydos, Ankeny, IA, Stephen Gaydos, Bismarck and Crystal Gaydos, Bismarck. Donald was also richly blessed with 16 great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-granddaughter.

Donald was preceded in death by his first wife, Gwen; his parents; brothers, LeRoy (Ruth) Streitz, Jerome (Madelein) Streitz and his infant brother Charles; sisters, Irma and Eileen; and his granddaughter, Julie Marie Jones. Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot, ND. Interment: Will take place in the spring at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Foxholm, ND.

Visitation: Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by a Vigil Prayer Service and Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm, all at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot, ND. Memorials: In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to the Our Lady of Grace Food Pantry.
