WINSTED – Donald Henry Cardillo, Sr., 81, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. He was the loving husband of June (Mitchell) Cardillo for 60 years. Born August 20, 1937 in Torrington; the son of the late Henry and Harriet (Sterling) Cardillo.

Don served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Lake Champlain. He owned and operated Don Cardillo & Sons Paving Contracting for 37 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing 9/5 with family and friends and golfing.

He also enjoyed wintering… Read More » in Florida. He was an avid UCONN Women’s Basketball fan. The most important thing in his life were his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his devoted wife, he is survived by his children, Candy (Jeff) Paulsen, Mark Cardillo, Sr., and Don (Mary) Cardillo, Jr.; grandchildren, Rachael Cardillo, Mark (Julia) Cardillo and Jeffrey (Tina) Paulsen; great grandchildren, Caroline, Carter, Caleb and Lucas; siblings, Brian, Jane (George) and Carol; and best friends, Herb and Gerrie Crunden and Minna Passini. He was predeceased by a great grandson, Levi Henry Leger and best friend, Bernie Passini. Friends may call on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 4 -7 PM with a funeral service at 7 PM with full Military Honors.
