Obituary for Donald Ray Owens Print Donald Ray Owens, 82, went to his heavenly home on Friday, February 8, 2019 in Brady, Texas. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Sunset Ridge Church of Christ, services will be held at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Rest Haven following the service.
Donald was born on June 29, 1936 to John Henry Owens and Ida Jewel “Wolfrum” Owens in Brady, Texas. Donald was in the Navy for four years as an airplane mechanic and in the reserves for three years. He married the love of his life, Juanice Marie Cavin, on September 11, 1955 and was married for 63 years.
He worked as a loading dock supervisor for 30 years. He loved the color red, playing golf, raising Spanish goats, diet mountain dew and his dog Missy. He was President of the Ole Hound Dawgs Club from 1979 to 1980.
Donald was a member of the Thursday Morning Men’s Prayer Breakfast, Down Home Cooking Coffee Drinkers, Brady Golfers and Brady Bulldog Legends / Class of 57. Donald cherished each and every moment that he spent with his family and friends. Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Juanice Owens of Brady, 2 daughters, Linda Stites and husband, John of Brady, Karen Peacock and husband John of Spring, Son, Barry Owens and wife Kathi of Waxahachie, 2 brothers, Troy Owens of Austin, Harold “Peanut” Owens of Brady, 7 grandchildren, Amanda Edwards and husband Aaron of Colleyville, Brooke Armstrong and husband Marcus of Waxahachie, Hannah North and husband Dustin of Houston, Bryce Owens of Waxahachie, Chase Peacock and wife Ilissa of Katy, Skyler Stites and wife Britney of Early, Maddison Owens of Waxahachie, 7 great-grandchildren, Jonathan Edwards, Ava Edwards of Colleyville, Isla Peacock, Emilia Peacock of Katy, Noelle North of Houston, Karter Stities of Early and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Proceeded in death by his parents, Henry and Ida Owens, twin sisters, Barbara Ann and Betty Nan Owens, 2 brothers, R.D. Owens, Benton Owens, 3 sister-in-laws Jean Ann Owens, Alberta Owens, Graylane Owens, 1 great granddaughter Lilly Peacock and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers: Chase Peacock, Bryce Owens, Skyler Stites, Curtis Owens, J.T. Owens and Swede Carlson.
