Obituary for Donald W. Goodrow Jr. Donald William Goodrow, Jr., 71, of West Branch, Michigan (formerly of Saginaw, Michigan) passed away peacefully with family at his side after a four-year battle with vascular dementia. Don was born in Saginaw to Donald William Goodrow, Sr. and Betty J. Goodrow (Melvin). He attended Buena Vista High School and graduated from Saginaw High.

After graduation he worked at General Motors, Steering Gear, Saginaw Division. He attended apprenticeship trade school for tool and die and retired from GM after 31 years of service. On November 13, 1965, he married Donna Marie Kubiak and together they raised three daughters whom he was extremely proud of.

After retirement, Don and Donna moved to Gunn Lake in Free Soil, MI. Donna passed away unexpectedly on February 5, 1998. Feeling lost after the sudden passing of his wife, Don moved back to Saginaw in 2001.

He joined the Snowdrifters Ski Club and there he met Deonne Sheltrown. He and Deonne married on May 14, 2004, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Midland and eventually settled in their home on Chapman Lake. They enjoyed wintering in Port Charlotte, FL, where he began a love for the sport of golf.

Don was employed at the Nightmare Golf Course as a pro-shop attendant and then as a ranger until his disease progressed. In addition to golf, he enjoyed fishing, boating, remodeling and spending time with friends and family. He loved landscaping and was very meticulous and had an eye for perfection.

Most of all he enjoyed a good laugh. Don is survived by his wife, Deonne, and their precious dog, Iva, his three daughters Dawn (Bobby) Hillier, Lisa (Joey) Stankowski, and Anne (Justin) Dalton along with five grandchildren: Linsey Morrell, Josey and Alaina Stankowski, and Jacob and Sydney Dalton. He is also survived by two brothers, Dennis (Kathy) Goodrow and David (Brenda) Goodrow; two sisters, Linda (Ronnie) Stiers and Cathy (Tim) Wallschlager; sisters-in-law, Michelle Goodrow and Pat Kubiak.

In addition, he is survived by his mother-in-law Helen Sheltrown and three brothers-in-law, Dale (Lori) Sheltrown, Joel (Teresa) Sheltrown, Van (Debbie Hall) Sheltrown, and sister-in-law, Glenda (Steve) Neumann along with several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents, Donald Goodrow, Sr., and Betty Melvin, his brothers Timothy and Robert Goodrow and nephew, David Goodrow. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Donna, her parents, Clarence and Marie Kubiak, and brother-in-law Robert Kubiak, sister-in-law Diane Goodrow, father-in-law Ed Sheltrown and sister-in-law Robin Sheltrown.

A special thank you to Father David Parsch and to Compassus Hospice for their loving care and support of Don; and also to his family, friends, and neighbors for their support and prayers. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd.

, (between Shattuck and McCarty). Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Eastside Soup Kitchen or a charity of your choice.
