Obituary for Lila H. Lovay Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at her home. Age 88 years. The daughter of the late Frank and Beatrice (Hopkins) Anjakos, Lila was born October 13, 1929 in Saginaw, Michigan.

She married James F. Lovay, the love of her life, on August 1, 1953. He predeceased her December 15, 1979. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1947.

Lila was employed at Michigan Bell Telephone Company, and as a bookkeeper at Ramar Construction and McKay Excavating. She was a longtime and faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, currently St. John Paul II Parish, where she served as a Lay Minister and an associate member of SNDdeN’s. Lila volunteered at Covenant Medical Center, Eastside Soup Kitchen and Emmaus House.

She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, traveling, singing and ice cream. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends. Surviving are three sons, one daughter and their spouses, James Lovay, Carrollton; Michael and Dixie Lovay, New Braunfels, Texas; Elizabeth Gorske and Dan Belanger, Prescott; Frank and Jamie Lovay, Saginaw; six grandchildren, Nicholas (Jennifer), Nathan (Roslyn), Mark, Eric, Danielle (Jeremy) and Andrew; two great-grandchildren, Lila and Noah; two sisters and one brother, Theano Pelkey, Pauline Goetz and Frank (Jackie) Anjakos; several nieces and nephews.

Lila’s family extends their gratitude and appreciation to her grandson, Nick, who cared for her lovingly, the Whipped Cream Club, her church family for their prayerful support, Wellspring Manor and Serenity Home Health Care and Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice for their compassionate care. Honoring Lila’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at St. John Paul II Parish-St. Josaphat Catholic Church, 469 Shattuck Road in Saginaw.

Longtime friend, Rev. Fr. James M. Fitzpatrick, will officiate.

Interment will take place later at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, Michigan. Friends may call at St. Josaphat Church where the family will be present on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
