Obituary for DORIS (FUESS) WILLIAMS Doris (Fuess) Williams, 98, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018 in Liverpool NY. Doris was born on March 12, 1920 in Waterville, NY to Harry M. and Viola P. Fuess where she grew up on a dairy farm. She graduated from Waterville High School, and earned her Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Library Science from Syracuse University.

Doris taught English at Van Hornesville High School and was the Librarian at Smith Road Elementary School in North Syracuse until she retired. Doris married John “Jack” F. Williams, her husband of 68 years, on November 25, 1943. They lived in Watertown NY and moved to North Syracuse in 1959, where they lived for the remainder of their lives.

Doris is survived by four children, Patricia (Jon) Williams, of Montville, NJ, Jack (Ana) Williams, of Liverpool, David (Eileen) Williams, of Albany, and Wendy (Reinier) Scheening, of Ballston Spa; four grandchildren, Chris (Laurel) Williams, Kelly (Gregg) Waldron, Tim (Katie) Williams, and Kate (Kyle) Kowalczyk, and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Donald (Esther) Fuess, of Waterville. She is pre-deceased by her husband “Jack”, her brother Robert (Bette) Fuess, and her sisters Betty Jane (Almon) Jones, Ruth and Harriet Fuess.

Doris was particularly proud of her family and the closeness they all share. She loved her garden, the family camp on Big Moose Lake, spending winters in Florida, high school wrestling matches, SU Sports, political discussions, and family reunions and picnics. Doris loved her family, loved life, and she made the very best apple pie.
