Dorothea’s Obituary Colonial Funeral Home- 2170 Highway 88 Brick, New Jersey 08724 Dorothea (Dot) Ann Souchek, 82, of Brick, passed peacefully on February 7, 2019 at home surrounded by love. She was born in New York City, NY, a city she loved and explored as often as she could. Dorothea spent her formative years in Rahway, before getting married and moving to Brick in 1957.

The daughter of Robert and Florence Dingley, Dot enjoyed a twenty-three year career with the Brick Township school system, where she made it her life’s goal to positively impact everyone she came in contact with. Dot was an avid reader, gardener, knitter, traveler, animal lover, and was always ready to seek out a new adventure. Her latest love was being part of the Laurelton Gardens’ community and a member of their Social Committee.

Dot’s most precious moments came when she was helping someone else, where she tirelessly gave of herself and her creative talents to help and touch as many people as she could. Dot’s unwavering love of her family and deep respect of all God’s creatures, gave everyone who knew her a true roadmap to being a better person. Dot was many things: a loving wife, cherished mother, loyal friend, and protector of those in need, but her favorite role was being an amazing grandmother.

Dorothea was predeceased by the love of her life, her soul mate and adoring husband, Thomas Souchek; her one true hero, her brother, Robert Dingley; and her partner in crime, her sister, Charlotte Barton. She is survived by her loving sons, Thomas and his wife Judith Souchek, Kenneth and his wife Kimberly Souchek, all of Brick. Also surviving are the ones who will continue her legacy of making the world a better place, her grandchildren Connor, Quinn, Mackenzie, Kendall and Dylan.

She is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews and their children, who not only had an Aunt Dot, but a second mom. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Hackensack Meridian Health, Ocean Medical Center’s Oncology and At Home Hospice teams for their devoted care and compassion. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday February 16th.

2019 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home 2170 Hwy. 88, Brick, NJ. , and a celebration of a life well lived will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothea’s memory to the Jersey Shore Animal Center or the Hackensack Meridian Health, Ocean Medical Center’s Cancer Care Center.
