Dorothy’s Obituary Dorothy G. “Dottie” Henning, 76, formerly of Hamilton Township, passed away Thursday evening, January 31, 2019 at Allied Hospice Center in Scranton. She was the widow of Bruce Henning with whom she had shared 41 years of marriage at the time of his death on July 30, 2009. Born on November 5, 1942 in East Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of the late Arthur K. and Grace J. (Hummel) Bond and was a lifelong resident of Monroe County.

She attended Stroudsburg High School. In her younger years, Dorothy worked as a waitress at the lunch counter in the Rea & Derick Drug Store on Main Street in Stroudsburg. She then spent several years working in local blouse mills before returning to her love of waitressing at the Rose Garden Coffee Shop in Pocono Medical Center from where she retired in 1996.

Dorothy was a true people person and loved interacting with her customers. Dorothy’s greatest joy in life were her grandchildren, Emily and Nathan, and there was nothing she loved more than cheering them on at their softball and baseball games. She also cherished her memories of the trips she and Bruce took to Hawaii and Florida.

She was an avid animal lover, especially her cats, Coal and Willow that she proudly adopted from AWSOM. She is survived by her daughter, Brucinda Kress and her husband Donald of Sciota; two grandchildren, Emily Grace Kress and Nathan Garrett Kress; a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Schuler of East Stroudsburg; a foster brother, Jack P. Singer of Canadensis; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Walters, and a brother, Arthur W. “Bill” Bond, Sr. Services will be held on Saturday, February 9, from the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg; with viewing beginning at 10:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM with Pastor Margie Good officiating.

Burial will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to Animal Welfare Society of Monroe (AWSOM), P.O. Box 13, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
