Dorothy’s Obituary Dorothy Catherine (Heatwole) Smith, 90, of Harrisonburg, formerly of Dale Enterprise, passed away on Saturday December 29, 2018. Mrs. Smith was born on May 26, 1928 in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Amos David and Effie Virginia (Showalter) Heatwole. She was a member of the Bank Mennonite Church.

Along with her husband, she owned and operated Smith’s Greenhouse for 35 years. On June 11, 1949 she married Winston Long Smith who preceded her in death on March 30 2005. Dorothy is survived by her children, Jenny Smith of Cross Keys, Nancy Duncan of Harrisonburg, Margaret O’Brien of East Canton, OH, Jay Smith of Fulks Run, John Smith of Fulks Run; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

She was the last surviving of her siblings. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday January 2, 2019 at 2 PM at the Bank Mennonite Church with the Ministers of the Church officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Burial will be held privately prior to the service. The casket will be closed. Those wishing may share a memory or an online condolence by visiting www.
