Vada’s Obituary Vada (Rion) Hensley, 104, of Elkton, passed away on Sunday January 20, 2019 at Journey’s Crossing of Elkton. Mrs. Hensley was born on October 27, 1914 in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Hiram Jackson (Bud) Rion and Irena (Michael) Rion. Growing up, she was a member of Mt.

Zion United Methodist Church and later and for many years of Bethel United Church of Christ. She was a gifted craftsperson and gardener and enjoyed making quilts, clothes and other items. On September 18th, 1937 she married Curtis B. Hensley, who preceded her in death on March 5th, 1984.

Mrs. Hensley is survived by her children, Barry Hensley of Elkton, Lois Kelley and husband Brian of Elkton, Patricia Gray of Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren: Justin Gray, Megan Reppert, Vada Kelley, Josh Kelley; and six great-grandchildren: Ryan and Maya Gray, Lorelei and Lochlan Kelley, Maeve Shrewsbury Kelley, and Levi Curtis Reppert. In addition to her husband and parents, Vada was preceded in death by her eight siblings, Ausby Rion, Honore Stanley, Clifton Rion, Lewis Rion, Bessie Rion, Sallie Rion, Lorene Shifflett and Stella Shifflett. Services for Mrs. Vada Hensley will be held at a later date.
