Hildegard’s Obituary Hildegard Muan of Lacey Spring, Va. died on January 15, 2019. Born in Wuppertal, Germany on December 3, 1929, she received her Ph.D. in Mineralogy from the University of Goettingen in 1957, and came to this country as a research associate at Rice University in Texas.

In 1960 she married Arnulf Muan, Professor of Geochemistry at Penn State University, and raised two children with him. Her life was devoted to her family and her farm. Her husband and her daughter Ingrid, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son Michael, his wife Marina, and two grandchildren, Gina and Jason. Memorial donations may be made to the Massanutten Regional Library.
