Steven Ray Steve Mitchell, March 06, 1971 — February 14, 2019

Steven’s Obituary Steven Ray “Steve” Mitchell, 47, of Weyers Cave, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Sentara RMH Medical Center, after battling cancer for a year and a half. Mr. Mitchell was born on March 6, 1971 in Rockingham County and was a son of Ray Ronald and Phyllis Ann (Gowl) Mitchell, who survive. Steve graduated from Broadway High School in 1990 and was a member of Greenmount Church of the Brethren, and attended New Beginnings Church.

Steve worked for Coca Cola for 18 years as a full service delivery driver. He previously worked for Harrisonburg Transit for 10 years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, and uncle.

His children were his pride and joy and he always loved spending time with them. On July 22, 1995 he married the former Fay Ellen Morris who survives. In addition to his wife and parents, Steve is survived by his children, Cameron Ray Mitchell, Kaylee Joyce Mitchell; a brother Brad Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Barb Wanger and husband Mike, Jeanette Showalter and husband David, Jennifer Holden and husband Carter, Jean Sager and husband Roger, Kathy McAllister; brother-in-law, Tim Southerly and fiancée Danielle Mouring; father and mother-in-law, Billy and Virginia Morris; his beloved dog Jack; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 4 PM at the New Beginnings Church, 101 Pike Church Road, Harrisonburg, VA 22801 with Pastor Reuben Horst officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be held on Sunday at 2 PM at the Greenmount Cemetery, prior to the service.

There will be no formal visitation time at the funeral home, however those desiring to sign the register book may do so on Saturday February 16, 2019 from 3 until 8 PM at the McMullen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sentara RMH Hahn Cancer Center, 2008 Health Campus Drive, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
