Robert’s Obituary Robert Claude Charles, 73, Harrisonburg, passed away December 31, 2018 at Crestwood, Redbud Unit, of VMRC. Mr. Charles was born on September 14, 1945, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and was the son of the late Walter Claude and Miriam Eisenberger Charles. He was a longtime resident of Biglerville, Pennsylvania for 45 years and retired from R.F. Truesdell Trucking Company.

He was an active member of the Bethel Mennonite Church in Gettysburg, PA where he led worship and was a song leader for many years. On October 8, 1966, he married the former Twila Umble Charles who preceded him in death on June 8, 2003. Surviving are a daughter, Tanya Charles Shenk and husband Duane, Harrisonburg; a son, Chadd Charles and wife Lisa, Nashville, Tennessee; a brother, John Charles and wife Dorothy, Willow Street, PA; a sister, Lois Charles, Lancaster, PA; a sister-in-law, Darlene Charles, Lititz, PA; five grandchildren, Alyssa Shenk, Addison Shenk, and Ava Shenk, Charleigh Charles and Pierson Charles; a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Pastor Phil Kniss and Don Sharp will conduct a funeral service at Park View Mennonite Church, Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 2 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends and a viewing will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Park View Mennonite Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community, Compassion Fund, 1501 Virginia Avenue, Harrisonburg, Virginia 22802.
