Obituary for Dorothy Marie Allen Dorothy Marie Cole Allen, 95, of Mint Hill, NC, died Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Novant Medical Center, Matthews Campus in Matthews, NC. Dot was born on September 7, 1923, in Jersey City, NJ, the daughter of Franklin and Anna McBride Cole. She grew up in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ.

After graduating high school she went to work as an office administrator for first a CPA agency and later an attorney’s office. On October 24, 1953, she married the love of her life, John Wallace Allen, in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. In 1999, she and John moved to Charlotte, NC, to be closer to their two sons, Donald and Dave Allen.

Dot enjoyed many things in life. She loved to bowl. Most of all, she loved the time spent with family and friends.

Dot is survived by two sons: David (wife Nancy) Allen of Lancaster and Donald Allen, also of Lancaster. Dot is further survived by her extended family at the Little Flower Assisted Living who cared for Dorothy, and numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
