Obituary for Douglas Engelbretson Douglas C. “Doug” Engelbretson March 23, 1931 – May 29, 2018 Douglas C. Engelbretson, at the age of 87, went into the arms of his loving Lord on May 29, 2018. Doug was born in Drain, OR, on March 23, 1931, to Leroy and Alice Engelbretson. Doug spent time in the Army and was a personal bodyguard to General MacArthur during the occupation.

After the military, Doug had many jobs before settling on his final career in law enforcement. First, with Snohomish, WA, Police Department with the rank of Sergeant before moving on to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. With ten years and two months, he finished his career as the longest tenured Under Sheriff in Snohomish County history.

The last 20 years was spent in East Wenatchee, WA, enjoying the weather, riding in the car with his wife and other family members, taking trips to Mill Bay several times of the week, and watching the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, westerns and Wheel of Fortune. He is survived by his wife, Henrietta, and grandson, Antjuan White, of the family home; daughters: Paula Lauterbach of Snohomish, WA, and Linda Davies (Roland) of East Wenatchee, WA; grandchildren: Marvin Lauterbach (Kathy) of Mukilteo, WA, Cindy Fulmer (Geoff) of Snohomish, WA, Anastasia Griggs, William Rivers, Laura Rosenberg (Marc) of Burlington, WA, Jocelyn Emmons (Scott, of Williston, ND, and Jeff Ossman (Jennifer) of Port Orchard, WA; sister, Gene Soderman; sistersin-law: Dolly Engelbretson, and Florence Bepple; greatgrandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Alice Engelbretson; daughter, Karen Engelbretson; granddaughter, Shantelle White; and brothers: Harold and Leon Engebretson, Ken Engelbretson and Donald Fink.
