Obituary for Erma Thompson Erma Lou Thompson passed away on July 7, 2018, in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Decatur, IL, on February 19, 1936, to Roy and Nelsine Myers. Her family moved to Washington State when she was in elementary school.

She attended Chelan High School, where she met many beloved friends, and then, Wenatchee High School, where she met her future husband, Jerald “Tommy” Thompson. The two were married in 1956, and after following the Army to Louisiana for a year, they settled and raised their family of four children in Wenatchee, WA. Erma was known by the neighborhood kids for having the best chocolate chip cookies on the block, and always made a point of keeping the cookie jar full.

She retired from the Wenatchee School District, where she worked in the cafeteria and later, in the front office. Erma was a social butterfly who seemed to know people everywhere she went. She loved spending time with her family most of all, and doted upon her troupe of great-grandchildren.

She had many strong friendships that meant the world to her. After accepting Jesus into her heart in 1973, she devotedly attended Eastmont Baptist Church and Sunday school, where she had many dear friends. She also spent time volunteering with the hospital and Wenatchee School District.

She loved traveling, particularly to the Oregon Coast, and was an avid shopper. She set an example to her family for how to love and how to forgive. Erma was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Nelsine; and her sister, Marilyn Harsh.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Tommy; her children: Karen (Joe), Sue (Alex), Kathy (Stan), and Jerry (Diana); as well as her adoring grandchildren: Tara (Ray), Dustin, Christine (Tony), Beau (Krystal), Zachary (Mackenzie), Ben, Hannah, Jessica, Jakob, and Luke; and great-grandchildren: Kassandra, Maya, Karsyn, Alex, Noah, Nathan, Kamryn, Max, Hudson, and Cooper. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., at Eastmont Baptist Church, 400 S. Kentucky Ave. , East Wenatchee, WA.

In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations to the Go Fund Me account for her Pastor, Dallas Stringer’s book. Arrangements are by Chapel of the Valley, Wenatchee, WA.
