Dwight D. “Mo” Montgomery, 58, of Gloucester passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Addison Gilbert Hospital following a brief battle with bone cancer. He was born in Gloucester on January 8, 1960, son of the late John ‘Hoss” and Marcia (Gronblad) Montgomery. He was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1978.

Mo was an accomplished athlete in high school. He also attended the University of Maine, where he studied physical education. While studying at the University of Maine, he played hockey and was an excellent hockey player.

Mo fished on many fishing vessels out of Gloucester. For the last 20 years he fished with his brother aboard the Chandelle and also with Capt. Jimmy Douglas aboard his whale watch boats.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his brother, John “Spice” Montgomery of Gloucester; his aunt and uncle, Katy and Henry Doherty and cousin, Kelly all of Danvers; close friends, Renee McIntyre, Kelly Pierce Rizzo, Capt. Jimmy Douglas, Dana MacDonald, Greg and Marianne from the Crow’s Nest.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to a charity of your choice.
