Edward (Ed) J. Lucas, 90, passed away on Friday November 2, 2018 at the Brooke Grove Assisted Living facility in Sandy Spring, MD. He was born in Stamford, CT on May 17, 1928 to the late Nicholas and Anna (Zvonkovich) Lucas. He served as a U.S. Marine in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.

After returning home, he attended the Horological School of Bradley University in Peoria, IL where he became a master watchmaker and hand engraver. For more than 40 years, he ran his own business as a jeweler, with stores in Stamford and Wilton. Ed served as secretary for the Croatian Fraternal Union, Lodge 616, where he was a member for 72 years.

He directed the delivery of medical supplies to Croatia as a liaison with AmeriCares during the Yugoslavian civil war. He was also of a member of the Knights of Columbus, a life-long tennis player (with a wicked slice) and an avid gardener. Ed’s friendly smile, optimism and caring nature gathered friends throughout all parts of his life.

He will be missed dearly by many. He is survived by his daughter, Karen L. King and her husband, Ted, of Maryland; two grandsons, Alex and Nathan; a nephew and several nieces. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Joan (Krystock) Lucas, and sisters Ann Russo, Margaret Kenna and Florence Lucas.

Family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 13th from 10am to 10:45am at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave, in Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11am at St. Mary’s Parish, 566 Elm Street, in Stamford. The interment will immediately follow at St. John Cemetery in Darien, CT.
