Obituary for Elaine Edith Young Caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at Olson Manor July 8, 2018. Elaine was born to the late Eleanor Novak and Roy Chamberlain on November 15, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan. Elaine attended Saginaw High School.

She was married for a brief time to Walter Pohlman. She then married Don Young, the love of her life. They loved music and dancing.

Elaine was the happiest when on a dance floor. Elaine, her husband Don, and her mother owned and operated Revena Gardens Ballroom and Bar on Swancreek Road in Thomas Township. Elaine managed the business by booking the bands, and running the business.

She enjoyed music and brought to Saginaw the “Big Bands” Glen Miller orchestra, Thommy Dorsey orchestra conducted by Buddy Morrow, Polka band Frankie Yankovic the Polka King of (Hoop-Dee-Do). After selling Revena Gardens, she and her husband moved to Sanford, Michigan and she managed the Sweitzer Restaurant in Midland, Michigan. Later they moved to Lake Placid, Florida near her father, Roy Chamberlain, then moved to Naples, Florida near her son, Walter Young.

Elaine lived in Naples for 40 years. Dancing was her joy. She spent her time going to dancing clubs with her friends and competed in many dance contests.

She attended First Baptist Church of Naples. She moved back to Midland and stayed at Olson Manor near her family. Elaine is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Dr. Bob) Hemphill, Bonita Springs, Florida; son, Kurt (Lisa) Young, Sanford, Michigan; son, Kim Young , Sandford , Michigan; daughter-in-law, Cathy Young, Naples, Florida; grandchildren, Dr. Rob (Dr. Swati) Hemphill, Madison, Connecticut; Dr. Shane (Jen) Hemphill, Holly Spring, North Carolina; Tyler Hemphill, Bonita Springs, Florida.

Cherrie Cecil, Naples, Florida; Michael (Tiffany) Wildfong, Naples, Florida; Taylor Young , Naples, Florida; Danielle Mackie, Sanford, Michigan; Melissa (John) Mitchell, Farewell, Michigan; Angelina Young, Sanford, Michigan; seven great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Norma Jean Agnew, Saginaw, Michigan; step-sister, Janet (Robert) Heindrichs, Grand Rapids, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews. Elaine is preceded by death by her husband, Donald A. Young, on December 17, 1982, and by her son, Walter “Bud” Young October 14, 2001. A funeral service for Elaine will take place 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.
