Elizabeth “Betty” Dowen, 92, of Brazil, Indiana passed away at her residence on October 31, 2018. She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on June 1, 1926 the daughter of James and Helen (Kotch) Richards. Elizabeth graduated from Wiley High School with the class of 1944.

She worked for Model Milk and the Poplar Shop clothing store in Terre Haute as well as Girton’s Implement in Brazil. She was a member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed caring for and being around her cats. She… was preceded in death by her husband Carl Dowen; a twin brother Jerome “Jerry” Richards and wife Mia and a brother Jerald Richards in infancy.

She is survived by her daughter Carolynn Trout and husband Doug; grandsons: Jordan Trout and wife Deidre, Christopher Trout and wife April and Matthew Trout; grandsons: Connor Benfit and Noah Trout; a brother Francis Richards and wife Ursula; nephews: Gary Richards, Matt Richards, Mark Richards, and Jeff Richards.
