Obituary of Elsie VanAlstine Elsie M. VanAlstine a loving mother and grandmother, age 95, of Beaver Dams, NY passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing, Montour Falls, NY. Elsie was born October 27, 1922 in Corning to Edward and Jessie (White) Teets. She married Bernard VanAlstine on November 8, 1941 in Corning.

She was predeceased by him on September 7, 2012. She was a graduate of Northside High School in Corning. She was a Sunday school teacher and church clerk for many years.

Elsie enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting. She was great at solving crossword puzzles. Elsie was a Schuyler County election inspector, a faithful member of the Bradford Baptist Church, as well as a member of the Schuyler County Senior Citizens.

She will be remembered as a person with a wonderful sense of humor, and a great cook. Her warm and inviting presence made her one of the best huggers; offering comfort with each hug. She is survived by two daughters: Jessie (Daniel) Ayers of Beaver Dams, NY and Judy Heichel of Montour Falls, NY; son: Leon VanAlstine of Beaver Dams, NY; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren along with several nieces & nephews.

Elise was predeceased by her son: George VanAlstine, and a baby boy; siblings: Dorothy Tifft, Francis Teets, Catherine Mapes, Mable Shelp, Mary Freeman, Elizabeth Drozda, Gladys Reynolds, and Hugh Teets. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Alzheimer’s Association, 435 E. Henrietta Rd. , Rochester, NY 14620 or Seneca View Skilled Nursing, 220 Steuben St., Montour Falls, NY 14865.

Family and friends are invited to call at Bradford Baptist Church, 2788 Yawger Hill Rd, Bradford, NY 14815 on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 10:00am-Noon and 2:00pm-4:00pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00pm with Pastor Greg Wixson and Pastor Ed Crandall officiating. Interment will take place at the family plot in Oldfield Cemetery, Hornby, NY at the convenience of the family.
