Obituary of Mary Jane Cohoon Mary Jane (MJ) Cohoon passed away quietly after a long illness on October 27, 2018 at Chemung County Nursing Facility in Elmira, NY. She was born in Youngstown, OH on October 28, 1937, the daughter of John G. Kovach and Mary V. (Hudak) Kovach. MJ was predeceased by her parents; husband, Glenn R. Cohoon; brothers John Kovach and Col.

Michael M. Kovach, USAF Ret. She is survived by sister-in-law, Mrs. Michael (Virginia) Kovach of Merritt Island, FL; brother, Stephen (Margaret) Kovach of New Philadelphia, OH; Paul (Deanna) Kovach of Kingwood, TX; her children: Michael L. (Pamela) Costantino of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Patrick Costantino (Marietta Westbrook) of Charlotte, NC, Mary Beth Costantino (Richard Wagar) of Corning, NY; grandchildren, Anthony Costantino and Angela Costantino; great-grandchildren, Dominick and Olivia; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. MJ was a graduate of St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center School of Nursing and Youngstown State University in OH.

Throughout her nursing career as a registered nurse she worked at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Youngstown, OH; Corning Hospital, Corning, NY; Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA, and Pardee Hospital, Hendersonville, NC. She received many awards for the high level of care she provided to so many as well as a certificate of appreciation from Sloan Kettering Hospital for her commitment to helping others undergoing cancer therapy. After retirement MJ was active in Hospice, was a Hospital Volunteer, and a driver for FISH.

She was also active in PEO in both NC and NY. She will be missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to thank the Chemung County Nursing Facility, 5th floor staff, for the care and compassion they gave “MJ” since her admittance to the facility last December.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 155 State Street, Corning, NY on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:00AM with Father Matthew Jones officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CareFirst, 3805 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post, NY 14870, your local SPCA, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
