Elva Hartman, age 89, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL. Elva was born on September 20, 1928 in Hillsboro, IL, a daughter of the late Robert Kenney and Fleeta (Cross) Kenney. On August 29, 1947, Elva married John Hartman, the love of her life, in Arkansas.

John passed away on February 6, 2011. Elva was a faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church in Granite City, IL. She had worked as a processing clerk for the F.H.A. for many years.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Elva loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents and devoted husband, Elva was preceded in death by her siblings, Annadel Grant and James Kenney. She is survived by her loving children, Phyllis (Roger Beets) Hartman of Granite City, IL and Phillip (Debra) Hartman of Lakewood Ranch, FL; proud grandmother to Jonathan Hartman of Ft. Wayne, IN and Jillian (Jason) O’Grady of Ft.

Wayne, IN; proud great-grandmother to Liliya Hartman, Addison O’Grady and Carter O’Grady; faithful companion and beloved pet, Higgins; extended family and many dear friends. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Hope Lutheran Church, 3715 Wabash Ave. Granite City, IL.

In celebration of her life, funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, with Pastor Alan Beuster officiating. Elva will be laid to rest next to John at St. John Cemetery on Nameoki Road, Granite City, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hope Lutheran Church.
