Emily Louis Battin, 77, of Litchfield, formerly of Raymond, died on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 3:10 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.

Pastor Bert Eickhoff, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Nokomis, IL will officiate. Ms. Battin was born on October 12, 1940 in Easton, Pennsylvania, to the late Elmer Robert and Dorothy Mae (Howey) Jones, and was adopted by the late Melvert (Mel) and Teresa Lovell (Vel) Cordani. Emily graduated High School in Easton, Pennsylvania, and served in the United States Marine Corp from July 1960 until November 1973 and was a life long supporter of our military and veterans.

She was a member of the American Legion Post 299 in Raymond. Emily served in many organizations over the years, first supporting her daughter in various Girl Scout clubs, and then in her school activities and organizations. She was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Raymond, American Legion, Business & Professional Women – where she held regional, state and national offices, and a town Trustee on the Raymond Board.

She was an avid supporter of Women’s organizations and American Veterans. She had worked in factories, served her country in the Marine Core, raised pigs on the farm, and retired from the Illinois Commerce Commission. Emily is survived by one daughter, Aimee (Dan) Pelarski of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; siblings, Thomas K. (Mayola) Dean of Pana, Beverly Sue Virden of Springfield, Toni (Roger) Leigh of Witt, Melvert (Sharon) Cordani of Litchfield, Eileen “Weegee” (Dan) Kinkelaar of Witt, Albert Joseph “Joe” Cordani of St Charles, Missouri, and Max (Lori) Montgomery of Colmesneil, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and special family friends, Bethy and Bennie, and Sasha and Jim.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents; sisters-in-law, Brenda Cordani and Lexi Cordani; and niece, Lisa DeWerff. Memorials may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
