Kenneth E. Traylor, 84, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at 12:48 a.m. at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.

Cremation rites were accorded. Military rites will be accorded at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home. Rev.

Harry Kirk, Pastor of Liberty Church, Bingham, IL, will officiate. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Burial will take place in Wares Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL.

Mr. Traylor was born on December 5, 1933 in Van Burensburg, IL to the late Samuel Baxter and Myrtle Esta (Koontz) Traylor. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, IL and earned a Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. He was a retired school teacher and basketball coach, and owned and operated T’s Tap and Traylor’s Pest Control.

Mr. Traylor lived in Van Burensburg, IL, Carbondale, IL, and Hillsboro, IL during his lifetime. He married Deanna May on September 21, 1957 in Coffeen, IL and she survives in Hillsboro, IL. Mr. Traylor coached basketball and Little League baseball; helped start Girls’ Softball Association in Hillsboro, IL; was an avid golfer; a member of the Jaycees, where he was past President; a member of Hillsboro Moose Club #1377, where he was past Treasurer; and played baseball with the Martin Oilers in Carbondale; and fast pitch softball with Coffeen Road Runners, Coffeen, IL.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his wife, Mr. Traylor is survived by two children, Tanja Goad (husband John Ostermann) of Taylor Springs, IL and Craig Traylor of Nokomis, IL; three grandchildren, Ty (wife Maria) Goad of South Bend, IN, Toby Goad of Taylor Springs, IL, and Ashley Traylor of Jacksonville, IL; six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Landin, Keaton, Syrus, Malia, and Elijah; and two brothers, Dale Traylor of Litchfield, IL and Gary Traylor of Springfield, IL. Mr. Traylor was also preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin Traylor, Murl Traylor, and Earl Traylor.

Memorials may be given to Hillsboro Sports Association, Hillsboro, IL.
