Eranda Smith Everett June 30, 1947 – January 19, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card FLORENCE – June Eranda Smith Everett, 71, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 after a courageous 20-year battle with ovarian cancer. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Mary Glenn Eldridge, 910 Santee Drive, Florence, on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Everett, wife of Thomas C. Everett III was born in Flint, Michigan, a daughter of the late Dr. George Covington Smith and June Bockstanz Smith. She graduated from Francis Marion College in 1971. Mrs. Everett became an elementary school teacher and then married Mr. Everett in 1975.

Together they owned a seafood restaurant in Santee, SC; they opened the first REMAX franchise in SC; and, managed multiple real estate and consulting companies. In addition to being a business owner, Mrs. Everett was passionate about serving the community by serving on the Florence School District One school board, the Florence Board of Realtors, the Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, the Steering Committee of Florence Youth, and executive consultant for the Junior Achievement Class of Applied Economics. Mrs. Everett was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, and formerly a member of the Church at Sandhurst and Calvary Baptist Church.

She loved her church family and appreciated the love from the body of Christ through the years of her illness. She was an inspiration to many for her strength and faith. Surviving, in addition to her husband of 43 years, are her children, Wayne Denny Schofield (Mary Beth) of Chantilly, VA, Sebrell Everett Smith (Damon) of Savannah, GA, Chappell Everett Hughes (Daniel) of Greer, SC, and Mary Glenn Everett Eldridge (Jule) of Florence, SC; her siblings, Terrell Smith Smith (Edward), Susan Smith Elvington (Leo), Martha Smith Clifford (Steve), George Covington Smith, Jr. (Sharon), and James Kennedy Smith.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance, PO Box 32141, New York, NY 10087-2141.
