Ethel Leona Magnuson Pearson, age 91, died June 5, 2018 at her home in Fall City, Washington, surrounded by her family. The daughter of Jons (John) and Emma Magnuson, Ethel was born September 18, 1926 at home in the Swedish community of Upper Preston. She was raised with seven brothers and sisters.

She is predeceased by her parents, her sisters Nyme Phillips and Thelma Foss, and her brothers John Magnuson, Robert Magnuson, Vern Magnuson, Richard Magnuson and Wallace Magnuson. Ethel was also predeceased by her daughter Christie Ann Weed Pearson in 2005. In the spring of 1943 Ethel met the love of her life, Malcolm (Mac) Pearson and they were married on December 18, 1943 before he left to serve in WWII.

The newlyweds settled in Fall City and for 74 years Ethel and Mac enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and socializing with their friends and family. The VASA Hall Swedish Meatball Dinner held each spring and fall was one of their favorites. Ethel and Mac shared their life in Fall City with their son, Dennis Pearson and their daughter, Christie.

During her teens, Ethel’s ambition was to become either a waitress or a hairdresser. She did neither, but did love maintaining her raven 40’s hair style. During WWII Ethel worked for the Boeing Company.

After working as co-owner of Fall City Foods and in a Safeway warehouse, Ethel became the “lunch lady” at Fall City Elementary. She was beloved by the teachers, other cafeteria staff and especially “her” students. Ethel is survived by her husband, Mac, her son, Dennis, her caregiver and great-grandson, Mason Seavey, six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews who will all miss her stories, her cinnamon toast, her spritz cookies and Swedish cooking, and her humor and generosity.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the Fall City Fire Department. A potluck reception in Ethel’s memory will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at VASA Hall in Upper Preston.
