Anton John “Tony” Berger passed away peacefully in Issaquah, WA on July 12th, 2018 at the age of 78. Tony was born on June 11th, 1940 in Mott, ND the youngest of 8 children to Phillip and Bertha (Turness) Berger. He graduated from North Dakota State University in 1962 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

After graduation, Tony spent time in Hawaii as a civilian contractor and hanging out on the beach. His claim to fame was being an extra for a movie with John Wayne. He later moved to the Seattle area to work at the Boeing Company where he met and married Patricia Shumway.

The couple began raising and showing Old English Sheepdogs and were very involved with the Old English Sheepdog Club of Greater Seattle and Sammamish Kennel Club. They welcomed their son in 1977 and shortly after they settled on Cougar Mountain just outside of Issaquah. Upon retirement, the couple split time between Issaquah and Lake Chelan.

His family and friends will remember Tony as a passionate, dedicated, social, active person. He was a loving husband and father and devoted to his family. As his son went through the ranks of youth sports, Tony coached and spent time on the Issaquah Little League board.

Professionally, he had successful career in the evolution of information technology eventually retiring from Simpson Timber Company as Manager of Information Systems. Tony was involved in many professional organizations, including SIM here he started and organized their annual charity golf tournament. After retirement his passion became golfing with his friends in Snoqualmie and Chelan.

Tony was dedicated to the men’s clubs for Snoqualmie Falls Golf Course and Lake Chelan Golf Course. Tony and Pat enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and checking off a bucket list trip to Scotland. When the grandkids arrived, he enjoyed spending time with them, watching them play sports, golfing and hanging out on Lake Chelan.

When he was not playing golf or with his grandchildren, he enjoyed committee meetings at the Garage. Tony is survived by his wife, Patricia Berger; children, Mike Berger and spouse Tricia; grandchildren, Diesel and Keegan Berger; siblings, Rose, Frances, Pauline, Mary, Loraine. Tony is preceded in death by parents Phillip and Bertha; siblings Barbara and Al.
