Etta Mae French Gibson, of Seymour, Tennessee, born October 18, 1934, in Knox County, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the age of 83. She retired from Levi Strauss on Cherry Street in Knoxville after 30 years of service and had many special friends from Levi Strauss. Etta loved her Church, her children, her daughter-in-law, and her grandchildren.

She enjoyed attending The University of Tennessee basketball and football games, gardening, vacationing at the Sunset… Read More » Inn in Panama City Beach, and making pecan pies for Christmas. She was a long time member of Ellejoy Baptist Church. Mrs. Gibson was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert Gibson; parents, Jake and Ruby French; sisters, Wanda Bussell, and Charlotte Duck; and brother, J.D. French.

She is survived by son, Jerry (Connie) Gibson and son, Mike Gibson. She is also survived by granddaughters, Michelle Gibson; Samantha Gibson; Justine Gibson; and Micah (Trent) Stewart, with great-grandchildren, Baylee, Bryson, Brooke, and Blakely Stewart. She is also survived by grandsons, Nathan Gibson; Chad Long; Greg (Grace) Gibson, with great-grandchildren Cora and Iver Gibson; and Brett Gibson, with great-grandson Aiden Gibson.

She is also survived by her sister, Sue Keller; special cousin, Marjorie Nunley and Family; many nieces and nephews; many special friends; and the Ellejoy Baptist Church family. Special thanks to her granddaughter, Samantha Gibson for her loving care for “Nana” during her last few months. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in memory of Etta Gibson to Ellejoy Baptist Church, 1290 Ellejoy Road, Seymour, Tennessee 37865.

The family will receive friends 5:00 pm-7:00 pm Tuesday, June 5 with funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel; Pastor Greg Gibson and Pastor Arkie Baker officiating.
