Obituary of Franklyn Kolbinskie Franklyn Barrie Kolbinskie, 79, of Red Hook, NY, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Born on July 1, 1939, in Rhinebeck, NY, he was the son of the late Franklyn James and Margaret (Curnan) Kolbinskie Allen. He was a graduate of Red Hook High School- Class of 1957.

Barrie married the “love of his life”, Eleanor “Bunny” Dunn on May 26, 1979 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Tivoli, NY. Bunny survives at home in Red Hook. A communicant of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Tivoli, Barrie served on the Vestry and was a lector.

He also served as President of Provoost Park- a St. Paul’s Housing Development. Barrie served in the United States Army and was an active member of Harris Smith Post 524 American Legion in Tivoli, NY. A Professional Fireman for over 29 years, Barrie worked for the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department.

He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters-Local 596; the NYS Professional Fire Fighters Assoc. ; the Poughkeepsie Paid Firefighters Assoc. ; the Mid-Hudson Harlem Valley Fire Chiefs Association; the Davy Crockett Hook & Ladder Company #1 in the City of Poughkeepsie; and Past Assistance Chief at the Red Hook Fire Company.

Barrie’s passion in life were his family, public service, and the great outdoors. He was a member of Hendrick Hudson Lodge #875 Free & Accepted Masons in Red Hook, NY, and a past member of Warren Lodge 32 F & AM. Barrie also was a member of the Dutchess County Trappers Assoc.

and NYS Trappers Assoc. In addition to his loving wife of 39 year, he is survived by his son, Benjamin Scott (Tara) Kolbinskie; his loving grandchildren, Ireland Elizabeth Kolbinskie, Callum Franklyn Kolbinskie, and Grayson Karl Kolbinskie; along with extended family and countless friends. In addition to his parents, Barrie was predeceased by his stepfather, Coral Allen.

Funeral service and interment at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery will be private. Memorial donations may be made in Barrie’s memory to the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory, 2150 Bleecker St., Utica, NY 13501-1787.
