OBITUARY Fred Wallace Altes January 5, 1924 – November 12, 2018 Fred “Buddy” Altes, 94, passed away at home on November 12, 2018. Fred served in the US Marine Corps during WWII and was a highly decorated combat veteran. Following the war, Fred began a career as an electrician, and was a lifetime member of IBEW Local 369.

He also served the union as business agent for many years until retirement. He and his loving wife Virginia enjoyed fishing and spending time at their cabin on Rough River Lake with friends and relatives. He was also a lifelong member of the old St. James United Church of Christ.

Survivors include nephews Gerald Roadcap (Sandy), Robert Bauer (Elsa), and Rick Bean (Nancy); and niece Vicki Salyer (Dale). He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia; nephew Robert Roadcap; and sisters Dorothy Roadcap and Elsie Mason. His funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy, followed by entombment at Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday and after 12:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
