Obituary for Frederick Warren Christian Frederick Warren Christian, age 79, of the Stinson Ridge section of Jewell Ridge, Virginia, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 at his home. He was born on Bearwallow and was the son of the late John Clarence Christian and wife, Virginia and the late Maggie Stevenson Christian. He hade made his home on the mountain all of his life and was a retired supervisor from Pittston Coal.

He was a member of the Reynolds Ridge Community Church, the Richlands Masonic Lodge #318 AF & AM, the Kazim Temple, and operated the Bowhunters Paradise for years. He was an avid archer, hunter, and fisherman. He loved his family and was a devoted father and husband.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Harold Edward “Chuck” Christian; son in law, Peter LeBarbera; and 13 brothers and sisters. Survivors are: His Wife: Billie Jean Christian Daughter: Joyce LeBarbera of New Port Richey, Florida Sons: Jimmy Duane Christian of Jewell Ridge, Virginia John Clarence Christian, II and Vanessa of Howell, Michigan Joseph Frederick Christian and wife, Casey of Wilmington, North Carolina Sister: Dorothy Rose and husband, Bob of Bandy, Virginia Brothers: Hubert Whitt and wife, Sharon of Harelysville, PA Harold Christian of Spokane, WA Seven Grandchildren and Two Great Grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Fred Christian will be conducted Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 2pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Lonnie Perkins and Paul David Crawford officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.

Pallbearers will be: Aaron McGlothlin, Earl Griffith, Jr., Lloyd Bo Vandyke, Bill Smith, Darrell Keene, Phillip Keene, Clyde Stone, and Lloyd Dunford. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Perkins, Shawn Cole, Harold Dean Pruitt, Mark Dailey, Carl Addison, Harold Dye, and Michael Keene. Friends may call after 6pm Monday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
