Obituary for Clarence Lee “Mater” Vencil Clarence Lee “Mater” Vencil, age 78 of Tazewell, VA died Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN. He was born August 25, 1940 at Seaboard, VA and was the son of the late Garnet Troy and Eva Lucile Lester Vencil. Mater was a 1958 Graduate of Whitewood High School and was a truck driver for over forty-three years.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and riding four-wheelers with his friends. Mr. Vencil was of the Christian faith and attended Calvary Baptist Church in the Witten Mill Community of North Tazewell, VA. He never knew a stranger and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Terry Lee Vencil; one sister, Ruth Ellen Delorto. Those who survive to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Gail Vencil; two daughters, Eva Taylor and husband, Ronnie of Pea Patch, VA and Leann McGraw and husband, Joe of Pounding Mill, VA; one half-sister, Beverly Ann Vencil of Bastian, VA; seven grandchildren, Hunter Taylor, Hayden Taylor, Chelsie Davis, Ethan Davis, Kayla McGraw, Brantley McGraw and Amelia McGraw; a host of other family members and friends also survive. Funeral Services for Mr. Vencil will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Rev.
Earl Cole, the Rev. Chuck Trent and the Rev. Kenneth Fields officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Hayden Taylor, Ethan Davis, Greg Hale, Mike Hunt, Hunter Taylor and Mackie Hall. David Hall, Robert McGuire, Linda McGuire and Bruce Sizemore will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
