Obituary for Hobert Eugene Mitchell Hobert Eugene Mitchell age 87, of Jewell Ridge, Virginia passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born in McDowell County, West Virginia and was the son of the late Noah and Stella Jewell Mitchell. He was a retired miner from Jewell Ridge Coal Company and a member of the UMWA Local # 7327 Jewell Valley, Virginia.

He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lucy Day Mitchell; son, Lonnie Mitchell; brothers, Curtis Mitchell, Roy Mitchell and John Mitchell. His spirit will forever be carried on by his loving family whom survives him: Daughter, Rita Davis and husband, David of Richlands, VA Sons: Raymond Mitchell and wife, Lois of Jewell Valley, VA Dale Mitchell of Richlands, VA Bobby Mitchell and wife, Tresa of Jewell Valley, VA Chester Mitchell and wife, Doris of Belfast, VA Sisters: Dorothy Matthews of TN Judy ton of TX Brothers: Junior Mitchell of Pennington Gap, VA James Mitchell of Newport News, VA Bud Mitchell of Christiansburg, VA Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service for Hobert E. Mitchell will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Troy Lester officiating. Interment will follow at the Knob Cemetery located in the Pea Patch area of Jewell Valley.
