Obituary for Martha Velles Wilson Martha Velles Wilson, age 98, of Raven, Virginia, was welcomed into her heavenly home on Monday, October 1, 2018. She was born in Russell County and was the daughter of the late Joe and Dora Mays Brown. She was a lifelong resident of the Raven and area and was the youngest of nine children and the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Martha worked as a homemaker her entire life and loved gardening, cooking, and tending to her flowers. Her family was her world and she loved taking care of others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Wilson; sons, Benny Lane Wilson, Curtis Bascom Wilson and Jackie William Wilson; two grandsons, Mark Anthony Wilson and William Keith Wilson; sisters, Mary, Lola, Berth, Rachel, and Minnie; and brothers, Bill, Claude, and John.

Survivors left to treasure her memory are: Daughters: Ruby Hess and husband, Joseph of Swords Creek, Virginia Cindy Boyd of Raven, Virginia Son: Richie Wilson and wife, Angel of Raven, Virginia Daughter in Law: Billie Wilson of Raven, Virginia Nine Grandchildren including her special girl, Amber, Kristy, Scott, Priscilla, Ronald, Richie Robert, Jr., Jackie Wayne, Dave, and Tracy Nine Great Grandchildren: Matthew, Alec, Daniel, Emily, Kimberly, Brandon, Cody, Madison, and Shannon Five Great-Great Grandchildren: Landon, Lillian, Ellee, Brayden, and Madison Several special nieces and nephews that she loved dearly also survive. Funeral services for Martha Wilson will be conducted Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 2pm with the Rev. Phillip Cook officiating.

Interment will follow at Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary Pallbearer will be: Priscilla Newberry.
