Obituary for Caretta Lou Bonds Smith Caretta Lou Bonds Smith, age 75 of North Tazewell, VA died Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell, VA. She was born June 3, 1943 at Dry Creek, WV and was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Tollie Pettry Bonds. Mrs. Smith enjoyed writing songs and playing the guitar and had many popular songs produced.

She was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Assemblies of God. Caretta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend; she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.

Those who survive to cherish her memory include her husband of sixty years, Earnest C. Smith, Sr.; four children, Kathryn Lynn Osborne and husband, Harvey of Beckley, WV, Randall Lee Smith and wife, Brenda of Yukon, WV, Brenda Smith Ward and husband, Richard of Thomasville, NC and Earnest C. Smith, Jr. of Rockwell, NC; sister, Joretta Sue Whaley and husband, Cleo of Sevierville, TN; brother, Jimmy Bonds and wife, Sparkle of the Whittaker Ridge Community near Bandy, VA; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA.

Pallbearers will be Randall Smith, Joe Smith, Richard Ward, Ben Saville, Kerry Kinney and Wayne Osborne. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018.
